Live (band)

Live is an American rock band formed in York, Pennsylvania, in 1984. Originally known as First Aid, and later as Club Fungus, the band consists of Ed Kowalczyk (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Chad Taylor (lead guitar, backing vocals), Patrick Dahlheimer (bass), and Chad Gracey (drums, percussion).

Live achieved mainstream success in the 1990s with their album Throwing Copper, which was released in 1994. Throwing Copper sold over eight million copies in the U.S. and spawned several hit singles, including "Lightning Crashes," "Selling the Drama," "I Alone," and "All Over You." The band continued to release successful albums throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, including Secret Samadhi (1997), The Distance to Here (1999), and V (2001).

In 2009, Ed Kowalczyk left the band to pursue a solo career. Live continued to perform with a new lead singer, Chris Shinn, until 2016 when Kowalczyk rejoined the band. The original lineup has been touring and recording since.

Live's music is characterized by Kowalczyk's distinctive vocals, Taylor's atmospheric guitar work, and their lyrics, which often explore themes of spirituality, social commentary, and personal reflection. They have been influenced by bands such as R.E.M., U2, and Peter Gabriel. Live has sold over 22 million albums worldwide.
