Limerick City (UK Parliament constituency)
Limerick City was a UK Parliament constituency in Ireland, returning one Member of Parliament. It existed from 1801 to 1885.
History
As a result of the Act of Union 1800, the separate Parliament of Ireland was abolished, and Irish constituencies were allocated seats in the new Parliament of the United Kingdom. Limerick City was one of the boroughs which retained its own parliamentary representation.
The constituency comprised the city of Limerick.
Boundaries
The boundaries of the constituency corresponded to the municipal boundaries of Limerick City.
Abolition
The Parliamentary Seats Act 1885 abolished the constituency. The city was then incorporated into the Limerick City constituency in the Parliament of the United Kingdom.
