Juggernaut (band)
Juggernaut was a progressive metal band formed in San Antonio, Texas in the late 1980s. Known for their complex arrangements, technical proficiency, and science fiction-themed lyrics, they achieved a cult following within the progressive metal community. The band's core members included guitarist/vocalist Lyndon "LB" Scar and drummer Bryan Scott.
Juggernaut released several demo tapes and EPs in the late 80s and early 90s, garnering attention through tape trading and word-of-mouth. Their music blended elements of thrash metal, progressive rock, and technical metal, drawing comparisons to bands like Watchtower, Fates Warning, and Sieges Even. A key characteristic of their sound was Scar's distinctive vocals, which often shifted between melodic passages and more aggressive deliveries.
While Juggernaut never achieved mainstream success, their music has continued to be appreciated by fans of progressive metal. They are often cited as an influential band within the genre, particularly for their contribution to the development of technically challenging and conceptually ambitious metal music. Despite disbanding in the mid-1990s, their recordings continue to circulate among collectors and online communities. Limited information exists about the band's activities following their dissolution.
