Lilstock

Lilstock is a small village and civil parish in the Somerset West and Taunton district of Somerset, England. It is located on the coast of the Bristol Channel, approximately 8 miles (13 km) northeast of Bridgwater.

The village is notable for its geological features, particularly the Jurassic Blue Lias cliffs. These cliffs are rich in fossils, including ammonites and marine reptiles, and are a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The constantly eroding coastline provides a continuous exposure of new fossil material.

The parish church of St. Andrew is a small, Grade II listed building dating back to the 13th century, although it has been restored and altered over the years. The church is constructed of Blue Lias stone.

Historically, Lilstock was primarily an agricultural community. Today, tourism and fossil hunting contribute to the local economy. The area is popular with walkers and those interested in geology and natural history.

The village has a limited number of permanent residents, with the population fluctuating seasonally due to tourism.
