Lejre Municipality (1970–2006)

Lejre Municipality was a municipality (Danish: kommune) in Roskilde County on the island of Zealand in eastern Denmark. It existed from 1970 until 2006.

The municipality was created as a result of the 1970 Danish Municipal Reform by merging the existing parishes of Gevninge, Gershøj, Hvalsø, Kirke Hvalsø, Kirke Hyllinge, Lyndby, Rye, and Særløse. Its administrative center was the town of Hvalsø.

Lejre Municipality ceased to exist as an independent entity on January 1, 2007, as a result of the 2007 Danish Municipal Reform. It merged with Bramsnæs Municipality and part of Skovbo Municipality to form the new Lejre Municipality. This new municipality belongs to Region Zealand.
