Kultali (community development block)
Kultali is a community development block (CD block) that forms an administrative division in the Canning subdivision of the South 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal.
Geography
Kultali CD block is located in the Ganges Delta. The area is part of the lower Gangetic plains and is characterised by flat alluvial plains. Numerous rivers, canals and creeks traverse the region. It is a part of the Sundarban region.
The block borders Canning I and Canning II CD blocks to the north, Basanti CD block to the east, Mathurapur II CD block to the south and Jaynagar I CD block to the west.
Kultali CD block has an area of 139.21 km2. It has 1 panchayat samity, 8 gram panchayats, 107 mouzas and 104 inhabited villages. The Kultali police station serves this block. The headquarters of this block are located at Ramkrishnapur.
Demographics
As per the 2011 Census of India, Kultali CD block had a total population of 168,144, of which 83,999 were males and 84,145 were females. The Scheduled Castes population was 63,087 and the Scheduled Tribes population was 12,294.
Gram Panchayats
Kultali CD block has the following eight gram panchayats: Garanbose, Jogeshganj, Kalicharanpur, Kultali, Maipith, Netidhopani, Ramkrishnapur and Uttar Bedbede.
