Kozan Dam

The Kozan Dam is an embankment dam on the Kozan River, located near Kozan in Adana Province, Turkey. Its primary purpose is flood control, irrigation, and municipal water supply. Construction of the dam began in 1968 and was completed in 1972. The dam has a height of 69 meters (226 ft) and a crest length of 570 meters (1,870 ft). The reservoir created by the dam has a storage capacity of 190,000,000 cubic meters (6,700,000,000 cu ft). The irrigated area served by the dam is approximately 44,640 hectares (110,300 acres). The dam plays a vital role in regulating the water flow of the Kozan River and preventing floods in the downstream areas. It also supplies drinking water to the town of Kozan and supports agricultural activities in the surrounding region.
