Komba (mammal)
The term "Komba" is a vernacular name used in some regions to refer to certain species of galagos, also known as bushbabies. Galagos are small, nocturnal primates belonging to the family Galagidae. They are native to sub-Saharan Africa.
The specific species referred to as "Komba" can vary depending on the locality and the particular language or dialect spoken. Generally, the name likely applies to smaller galago species. Due to the regional and informal nature of the name, it is not a scientifically precise taxonomic designation. Using the scientific names of specific galago species is more accurate for identification and scientific communication. Characteristics common to galagos, and therefore likely applicable to animals called "Komba", include large eyes for nocturnal vision, strong hind limbs for leaping, and a diet consisting of insects, fruit, and gum. They are also characterized by their distinctive vocalizations.
