Kilima

Kilima is a Swahili word meaning "mountain." It is most commonly associated with Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa and a dormant volcano in Tanzania. The word is also used more generally to refer to any mountain or large hill within Swahili-speaking regions. The etymology of "Kilima" is believed to originate from the KiChagga word "kilema," meaning "that which defeats" or "difficult to conquer," referring to the challenge posed by the mountain's height and terrain.
