Kevin White (athletic director)
Kevin White (born December 28, 1950) is an American former college athletics administrator. He served as the athletic director at Duke University from 2008 to 2021. Prior to Duke, he held the same position at the University of Notre Dame (2000-2008), Arizona State University (1996-2000), Tulane University (1991-1996), and the University of Maine (1987-1991).
White is known for his advocacy for intercollegiate athletics and his contributions to the development of student-athletes. He has served on numerous NCAA committees, including the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee, which he chaired.
Throughout his career, White oversaw significant facility improvements and enhanced fundraising efforts at each institution he led. He is also credited with hiring successful coaches in various sports, contributing to athletic success and national prominence. His tenure at each university was marked by a focus on academic integrity, compliance with NCAA regulations, and the overall well-being of student-athletes. He holds a Ph.D. in education administration from Southern Illinois University. After retiring from Duke, he remained involved in consulting and advisory roles within the college sports landscape.
