Kalush (rap group)
Kalush is a Ukrainian rap group formed in 2019. The group consists of Oleh Psiuk (founder and rapper), Ihor Didenchuk (multi-instrumentalist), and MC KylymMen (DJ and backing vocalist).
Kalush is known for blending rap with Ukrainian folk music motifs and traditional instruments like the sopilka and telenka. Their name originates from Psiuk's hometown, Kalush, located in the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast of Ukraine.
The group gained wider recognition in 2021 after collaborating with rapper Skofka on the track "ЙОЙ".
In 2022, Kalush Orchestra, a spin-off project focused on a wider fusion of hip-hop and traditional Ukrainian music, was selected to represent Ukraine in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song "Stefania." Kalush Orchestra won the competition, receiving a combined score of 631 points. Following their Eurovision victory, the group used their platform to advocate for humanitarian aid and support for Ukraine amidst the ongoing Russian invasion.
