Jon Christensen (journalist)
Jon Christensen is an American environmental journalist, historian, and media scholar. He is a journalist in residence at the Institute of Environment and Sustainability at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He is also an adjunct assistant professor in the UCLA Department of History and a senior fellow in the UCLA Laboratory for Environmental Narrative Strategies (LENS).
Christensen's work focuses on the intersection of environmental issues, urban development, science communication, and digital media. He has written extensively about climate change, water resources, biodiversity, and the history of environmental movements.
Prior to his work at UCLA, Christensen was the founding editor of Boom: A Journal of California, a quarterly magazine published by the University of California Press. He also served as the communications director for the Emmett Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at UCLA School of Law. He has held positions at Stanford University and other institutions.
Christensen's writing has appeared in numerous publications, including The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Nature, and Science. He is the co-editor of several books, including Environmental Communication and the Public Sphere and Golden Dreams: California in an Age of Abundance, 1950-1963.
