John Ward (American football, born 1907)
John Ward (born September 2, 1907, in Lead, South Dakota, died December 12, 1975, in San Mateo, California) was an American football player and coach. Ward played college football as an end for the University of Minnesota from 1927 to 1929, earning All-American honors in 1929. He was part of the undefeated 1927 Golden Gophers team.
After his playing career, Ward coached football at several high schools in California, including San Mateo High School. He also worked as a physical education teacher and athletic director. Ward was inducted into the University of Minnesota Athletic Hall of Fame in 1993.
