John Sutton (actor)
John Sutton (October 22, 1908 – July 12, 1963) was a British actor with a long career in American film and television.
Born in Rawalpindi, British India (now Pakistan), to British parents, Sutton was educated in England. He began his acting career on the London stage.
He moved to the United States in the late 1930s and quickly found work in Hollywood. He was known for his suave and sophisticated demeanor, often playing aristocratic or villainous roles. Some of his notable film appearances include "The Adventures of Robin Hood" (1938) as a knight, "Tower of London" (1939), "My Favorite Blonde" (1942) with Bob Hope, "Jane Eyre" (1943), and "Captain from Castile" (1947). He also appeared in numerous B-movies and serials throughout the 1940s and 1950s.
Sutton transitioned to television in the 1950s, appearing in various anthology series and episodic dramas, such as "Alfred Hitchcock Presents," "Perry Mason," and "The Twilight Zone." He often played guest roles, lending his distinctive presence to various characters.
John Sutton was married to several actresses, including Jacquelyn Wells and Jean Wallace. He died in Los Angeles, California, in 1963 at the age of 54.
