John Stokes (canon of Windsor)
John Stokes (died 1559) was a Canon of Windsor.
Life
He was educated at Eton College and King's College, Cambridge. He graduated B.A. in 1530 and M.A. in 1533.
Career
He was appointed:
- Fellow of King’s College, Cambridge 1527
- Vicar of Eton 1535
- Rector of Dorney, Buckinghamshire 1537
- Rector of Horton, Buckinghamshire 1540
- Rector of Iver, Buckinghamshire 1546
- Rector of Everdon, Northamptonshire 1553
He was appointed to the sixth stall in St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle in 1546, a position he held until his death in 1559.
