Patapius
Patapius of Thebes is an obscure Egyptian Christian saint and hermit, venerated primarily in the Greek Orthodox Church. Little concrete information is available about his life. According to tradition, Patapius lived during the 4th or 5th centuries AD and spent his life in asceticism and prayer in the Theban desert. He is credited with performing miracles and offering spiritual guidance.
His feast day is celebrated on December 8th (November 25th on the Julian Calendar). While not widely known in the Western Christian tradition, he remains a figure of devotion in some Eastern Orthodox communities. Information about his life is often found in hagiographies (biographies of saints) passed down through oral and written tradition, making it difficult to verify historical details with certainty.
His relics are believed to be preserved at the Monastery of Saint Patapius in Loutraki, Greece. The monastery is a popular pilgrimage site, and the relics are reputed to have healing powers.
