John Mills (writer)

John Mills (1931-2023) was a Canadian writer, editor, and academic. He was known for his experimental fiction, literary criticism, and contributions to Canadian literature. Mills was a prominent figure in the Vancouver literary scene for many years.

He was born in London, England, and emigrated to Canada in 1952. He taught English at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia from 1965 until his retirement.

Mills's novels often explored metafictional themes, challenging conventional narrative structures and engaging with the process of writing itself. He also published several collections of essays and reviews focusing on contemporary literature and culture. He was a prolific contributor to literary journals and magazines.
