John Mickey (baseball)

John Mickey (born August 18, 1924, in Los Angeles, California, died February 27, 2020, in Rancho Mirage, California) was an American professional baseball infielder who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Brooklyn Dodgers (1949-1951) and the St. Louis Cardinals (1954). Primarily a shortstop, he also played second and third base.

Mickey was signed by the Dodgers in 1943. After serving in the military during World War II, he resumed his baseball career. He made his major league debut with the Dodgers in 1949. He appeared in 107 games over three seasons with Brooklyn, serving mostly as a backup infielder behind Pee Wee Reese.

Following his time with the Dodgers, Mickey played in the minor leagues. He returned to the majors in 1954 with the Cardinals, appearing in 33 games. His MLB career totals include a .222 batting average, 4 home runs, and 23 RBIs in 140 games played. After his baseball career, Mickey worked in the insurance industry.
