John Knight (cricketer)
John Knight (born 21 May 1951) is a former English cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and right-arm medium-pace bowler who played first-class cricket for Leicestershire and Sussex.
Knight made his first-class debut for Leicestershire in 1972 and played for the county until 1983. He then joined Sussex, where he played until 1988. He was a consistent performer throughout his career, scoring over 1,000 runs in a season on several occasions. He was also a useful bowler, taking a number of wickets for both counties.
Knight's highest first-class score was 174, made for Leicestershire against Nottinghamshire in 1977. He also scored 141 not out for Sussex against Hampshire in 1986. His best bowling figures were 6 for 43, taken for Leicestershire against Warwickshire in 1976.
After retiring from professional cricket, Knight remained involved in the game at amateur level.
