John Killaly

John Killaly (born sometime before 1776, died February 18, 1832) was an Irish merchant, banker, and politician. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Upper Canada for the 1st York and Simcoe riding from 1820 to 1824.

Killaly emigrated to Upper Canada from Ireland in the late 18th or early 19th century and established himself in the Niagara District. He became a prominent merchant and was involved in banking. He was appointed a justice of the peace and also served in the local militia.

In 1820, Killaly was elected to the Legislative Assembly. During his term, he supported infrastructure development in the region. He did not seek re-election in 1824. Killaly's political leanings were generally considered to be aligned with the moderate Reform movement within Upper Canadian politics of the time.

He died in Niagara in 1832. His son, Hamilton Killaly, also became a prominent figure in Upper Canada, serving as a civil engineer and Commissioner of Public Works.
