John Jackett (politician)

John Jackett (born August 22, 1940) is a former Canadian politician in Newfoundland and Labrador. He served as a Progressive Conservative Member of the House of Assembly (MHA) for St. John's East Extern from 1979 to 1989.

Jackett held several cabinet portfolios during his tenure, including Minister of Consumer Affairs and Communications, Minister of Social Services, and Minister of Environment. He was known for his work in developing social programs and environmental regulations during his time in government.

Prior to entering provincial politics, Jackett worked in the private sector. After leaving the legislature, he returned to business. He has remained active in community affairs.
