John Hawkes (tennis)

John Hawkes (also known as Jack Hawkes) (5 April 1899 – 10 March 1990) was an Australian male tennis player. He was a successful amateur player during the 1920s, primarily known for his doubles and mixed doubles prowess.

Hawkes reached the final of the Australian Championships singles twice, in 1926 and 1927, losing both times to John Crawford. However, he excelled in doubles, winning four Australian Championships men's doubles titles. He partnered with Gerald Patterson to win in 1926 and 1927, and with John Crawford in 1928 and 1929.

He also achieved significant success in mixed doubles. He won the Australian Championships mixed doubles title five times: in 1922 and 1923 with Esna Boyd Robertson, and in 1924, 1925, and 1927 with Daphne Akhurst Cozens.

Hawkes represented Australia in the Davis Cup.
