John Gibson (architect)
John Gibson (1817-1892) was a British architect, known primarily for his work in the neo-classical style. He was a student of Sir Charles Barry and subsequently embarked on a successful independent career. Gibson's notable works include the National Provincial Bank headquarters in London (now part of Coutts & Co.), which exemplifies his use of grand scale and classical detailing. He also designed several other banks and commercial buildings, contributing significantly to the architectural landscape of London during the Victorian era. Gibson's designs are often characterized by their imposing facades, elaborate ornamentation, and meticulous attention to detail. He was a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA).
