John Ferguson (rugby league)
John Ferguson is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer and coach.
Ferguson played primarily as a winger during his career. He is best known for his time with the Canberra Raiders in the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) competition during the 1980s. He was a key member of the Raiders team that won the club's first premiership in 1989, defeating the Balmain Tigers in the Grand Final.
Prior to joining the Raiders, Ferguson played for the Newtown Jets. He also represented New South Wales in State of Origin and Australia at international level.
After his playing career ended, Ferguson moved into coaching. He served as coach of the South Queensland Crushers in the Australian Rugby League (ARL) competition. He has also held various coaching and administrative roles within rugby league.
Ferguson is remembered as a dynamic and skillful winger who made a significant contribution to the Canberra Raiders' success in the late 1980s.
