Škroup

Škroup (Škroup) is a Czech surname. It most notably refers to:

• František Škroup (1801-1862): A Czech composer and conductor, best known for composing the music to "Kde domov můj?" ("Where is my Home?"), which became the national anthem of Czechoslovakia and, subsequently, the Czech Republic. He also composed operas, including "Dráteník" (The Tinker).

• Jan Nepomuk Škroup (1791-1851): A Czech composer and musician, and brother of František Škroup. He was also a notable figure in Czech musical life.

• The Škroup family were a significant family in the development of Czech music in the 19th century.
