John Curtis (bishop)

John Curtis is a retired bishop in the Episcopal Church in the United States. He served as the Eighth Bishop of Litchfield, Connecticut from 1997 to 2007. Prior to his election as bishop, he served as rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Riverside, Connecticut.

Curtis was born in 1943. He graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut and received his Master of Divinity degree from Berkeley Divinity School at Yale.

During his time as Bishop of Litchfield, Curtis focused on issues of social justice, including poverty and homelessness. He was also involved in ecumenical dialogue and interfaith relations.

Following his retirement, Curtis remained active in the Episcopal Church, serving as assisting bishop in various dioceses.
