John Colville (Liberal politician)
John Colville was a Scottish Liberal politician.
Colville served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for North East Lanarkshire from 1895 to 1906. He won the seat at the 1895 general election, defeating the sitting Liberal Unionist MP, Donald Crawford. He held the seat in 1900 but was defeated at the 1906 general election by the Labour candidate, Thomas Smith.
Little further information is readily available regarding specific policy positions or significant legislative contributions during his time in Parliament. His tenure coincided with a period of significant political realignment, including the rise of the Labour Party and increasing challenges to the Liberal dominance of Scottish politics.
