Irma Boom

Irma Boom (born December 15, 1960) is a Dutch graphic designer specializing in book design. She is renowned for her artistic and experimental approach to bookmaking, often challenging conventional book structures and formats.

Boom studied at the AKI Art Academy in Enschede. She began her career working for the Dutch Government Publishing and Printing Office (Sdu) before establishing her own studio, Irma Boom Office, in Amsterdam.

Her work is characterized by its innovative use of typography, materials, and binding techniques. Boom's books are often considered works of art in themselves, pushing the boundaries of what a book can be.
