Joe Lewis (baseball)
Joe Lewis (born January 27, 1954) is a former professional baseball outfielder. He played primarily in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Atlanta Braves from 1978 to 1987.
Lewis was drafted by the Montreal Expos in the 1st round (11th overall) of the 1972 MLB Draft. He was later traded to the Atlanta Braves. He made his major league debut on September 2, 1978.
During his career, Lewis was known for his speed and defensive abilities. He primarily played center field. He had a career batting average of .258 with 20 home runs and 173 RBIs in 712 games played.
Following his playing career, Lewis has been involved in coaching and baseball instruction. He is remembered as a solid contributor to the Atlanta Braves during his tenure with the team.
