Jody Gage
Jody Gage (born August 23, 1959, in Dryden, Ontario, Canada) is a retired professional ice hockey player. A right winger, Gage played primarily in the American Hockey League (AHL), where he established himself as one of the league's all-time leading scorers. He is best known for his long tenure with the Rochester Americans, the AHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres.
Gage played junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) before turning professional. He joined the Rochester Americans in the 1980-81 season and quickly became a fan favorite. His scoring prowess and leadership abilities made him a key player for the team throughout the 1980s and early 1990s.
Gage's AHL career spanned 18 seasons, during which he played for several teams, including the Rochester Americans, Adirondack Red Wings, and Baltimore Skipjacks. However, he is most strongly associated with Rochester. He served as captain of the Americans for multiple seasons.
Gage retired from professional hockey in 1998. He holds numerous records with the Rochester Americans, including all-time leader in goals, assists, and points. His number 9 jersey is retired by the team and hangs in the rafters of the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, New York.
Following his playing career, Gage has remained active in the Rochester hockey community, involved in coaching and various other roles. He is widely regarded as a legend in Rochester Americans' history and a significant figure in AHL history. His contributions to the sport have earned him recognition and respect within the hockey world.
