Ricky Moore (basketball)
Ricky Moore (born March 14, 1976) is an American college basketball coach and former player. He is currently an assistant coach at the University of Connecticut (UConn).
Playing Career:
Moore was a standout point guard for the UConn Huskies from 1995 to 1999, playing under head coach Jim Calhoun. He was known for his exceptional defensive skills and leadership qualities. He was a key contributor to UConn's 1999 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament championship team. Specifically, Moore is remembered for his defensive prowess on Duke's Trajan Langdon in the closing minutes of the 1999 National Championship game.
Moore was named to the All-Big East Conference team during his career at UConn.
Professional Career:
Following his collegiate career, Moore played professionally overseas, including stints in countries such as France and Germany.
Coaching Career:
Moore began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Dartmouth College. He subsequently held assistant coaching positions at Manhattan College and Central Connecticut State University. He returned to UConn as an assistant coach under head coach Dan Hurley. He has been a part of the coaching staff for multiple NCAA tournament appearances and national championships.
