Jim Warren (artist)

Jim Warren (born November 22, 1949) is an American artist, known for his surrealistic paintings. He is primarily self-taught and is often categorized as a fantasy artist.

Warren's style blends elements of surrealism and impressionism, often incorporating symbolic imagery and hidden meanings within his compositions. He frequently depicts nature, animals, and the human form in dreamlike and fantastical settings.

Early in his career, Warren worked as a fine art billboard painter. This experience significantly influenced his later artistic style and technique. He gained wider recognition in the 1970s and 1980s, particularly through his album cover artwork. He is perhaps best known for painting the cover of Bob Seger's 1982 album, The Distance. He also created album covers for artists such as Prince and T. Rex.
