This Is Going to Hurt is a British medical comedy-drama television series based on the memoir of the same name by Adam Kay. The series premiered on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the United Kingdom on 8 February 2022, and on AMC+ in the United States on 2 June 2022.

The show stars Ben Whishaw as Adam Kay, a junior doctor working in obstetrics and gynaecology in a busy NHS hospital. The series follows Adam as he navigates the pressures and challenges of his demanding job, dealing with difficult patients, long hours, and the emotional toll of working on the front lines of healthcare.

The series is known for its dark humour, realistic portrayal of the medical profession, and exploration of the personal sacrifices made by healthcare workers. It also tackles themes of mental health, burnout, and the impact of underfunding on the National Health Service. The adaptation remains largely faithful to the source material, incorporating direct quotes and anecdotes from Kay's memoir. Its success spawned a second season which began filming in February 2024.
