Jim Montgomery (basketball)
James "Jim" Montgomery is a former American college basketball player and coach. He is best known for his long and successful tenure as the head coach of the Montana Grizzlies men's basketball team from 1978 to 1987.
During his time at Montana, Montgomery led the Grizzlies to six Big Sky Conference regular season titles and four NCAA Tournament appearances (1981, 1983, 1985, 1987). He was named Big Sky Conference Coach of the Year four times. His coaching record at Montana was 220-60.
After leaving Montana, Montgomery served as an assistant coach at Boise State University before eventually retiring from coaching.
