Jetsgo

Jetsgo was a Canadian low-cost airline that operated primarily in Eastern Canada and to vacation destinations in the United States and the Caribbean. Founded in 2001 by Michel Leblanc, the airline rapidly expanded, becoming Canada's third-largest airline at its peak.

Jetsgo focused on offering lower fares and aimed to compete with Air Canada and WestJet. They operated a fleet of McDonnell Douglas MD-83 and Boeing 737-400 aircraft. The airline's business model heavily relied on high load factors and strict cost controls.

Despite its initial success and rapid growth, Jetsgo struggled to maintain profitability. The airline faced challenges including rising fuel costs, intense competition, and significant debt.

On March 11, 2005, Jetsgo abruptly ceased operations, leaving thousands of passengers stranded and impacting many employees. The sudden shutdown was attributed to financial difficulties and an inability to secure further funding. The collapse of Jetsgo had a significant impact on the Canadian aviation industry, particularly on the availability of low-cost air travel options. The bankruptcy proceedings that followed revealed the extent of the airline's financial problems and highlighted the challenges of operating a low-cost airline in the Canadian market.
