James Craufurd (British Army officer)
James Craufurd (1761 – 14 November 1839) was a British Army officer and politician.
Craufurd was the son of Sir Alexander Craufurd, 1st Baronet, and Jane Crokatt. He entered the army and rose through the ranks, serving extensively during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. He distinguished himself in various campaigns, including those in the Low Countries, the West Indies, and the Iberian Peninsula.
He served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for East Retford from 1802 to 1806, and for Berwick-upon-Tweed from 1807 to 1812.
He achieved the rank of General in the British Army.
