Jack Haig (actor)

Jack Haig (born 5 January 1913, died 4 January 1989) was a British actor, best known for his roles in comedy television and theatre. Born John Alfred Rowlands, he adopted the stage name Jack Haig to avoid confusion with another actor of the same name.

Haig's career spanned several decades, and he became a familiar face to British audiences. He frequently played eccentric and somewhat bumbling characters, often with a nervous or twitchy demeanor, which became his trademark.

He is perhaps most remembered for his role as Monsieur Roger Leclerc in the BBC sitcom "'Allo 'Allo!", a character he played from 1982 until his death. Leclerc was a resistance fighter who frequently disguised himself in ludicrous outfits.
