Ira Davis (athlete)
Ira Davis (born November 4, 1922, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – died May 18, 2018, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) was an American track and field athlete who specialized in the triple jump. He represented the United States at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London, finishing fourth. Davis was a member of the Philadelphia Pioneer Club, a prominent African-American athletic club that fostered many talented athletes. He was known for his powerful jumping style and consistency throughout his career. Davis also served in the United States Army during World War II. After his athletic career, he worked as a postal worker. He was inducted into the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame in 2013.
