In the Name of Love (Thompson Twins album)

In the Name of Love is the debut studio album by British pop band Thompson Twins. It was released in 1982 on the Arista Records label. This album is significantly different in style and sound from their later, more commercially successful work.

The album reflects the band's early new wave and post-punk influences, incorporating elements of experimental electronic music and art-pop. Unlike their later synth-pop hits, In the Name of Love features a more angular and less polished sound. The original lineup of the Thompson Twins at the time of this album's release consisted of seven members, including Tom Bailey, Alannah Currie, and Joe Leeway, along with several other musicians who contributed to the band's early sound.

The title track, "In the Name of Love," was released as a single, but it did not achieve the same level of mainstream success as their subsequent singles like "Hold Me Now" and "Doctor! Doctor!". Other tracks on the album include "Make Believe," "Beach Culture," and "The Price." While the album wasn't a major commercial success, it is considered an important part of the Thompson Twins' early discography, showcasing their artistic roots and evolution into a commercially viable band.
