The church dates back to the 9th century, specifically the reign of King Ramiro I of Asturias (842-850 AD). Its architectural style reflects the Ramirense style, characterized by its robust construction, use of barrel vaults, and elaborate decorative elements.
The building's structure consists of a rectangular nave, a square sanctuary, and a portico on the south side. The interior is notable for its well-preserved murals, depicting religious scenes and geometric patterns, which provide valuable insights into Asturian art of the period.
