Carreghofa is a village and community in north Powys, Wales, located near the English border. It lies on the River Vyrnwy, roughly 6 miles north of Llanfyllin and 8 miles south-west of Oswestry.
The name Carreghofa likely derives from the Welsh words "carreg" (stone, rock) and "cofio" (to remember, commemorate), possibly referring to a landmark stone or rock associated with a historical event or memorial. Alternative etymologies have also been suggested.
Historically, Carreghofa was a small agricultural community. The area is known for its picturesque countryside and opportunities for walking and outdoor pursuits. The Offa's Dyke Path passes nearby.
