Ian Cooper (Australian footballer, born 1946)

Ian Cooper (born 20 July 1946) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL).

Cooper, a centre half-back, came to Melbourne from Melbourne High School Old Boys. He debuted in the 1964 VFL season and was a regular fixture in the Melbourne team for much of the 1960s and early 1970s. He was known for his strong marking and reliable play. Cooper represented Victoria in interstate football. He retired from VFL football at the end of the 1973 season. Following his VFL career, he continued to be involved in Australian rules football at the amateur level.
