Ian Anderson (baseball)
Ian Anderson (born May 2, 1998) is an American professional baseball pitcher who is currently a free agent. He previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Atlanta Braves.
Anderson was drafted third overall by the Braves in the 2016 Major League Baseball draft. Prior to being drafted, he played high school baseball at Shenendehowa High School in Clifton Park, New York.
He made his MLB debut on August 26, 2020, for the Braves. In his rookie season, he helped the Braves reach the National League Championship Series. In 2021, he played a significant role in the Braves' World Series championship run, notably pitching five no-hit innings in Game 3 of the series.
Known for his curveball and changeup, Anderson displayed early promise as a starting pitcher but his career has been impacted by injuries and inconsistent performance following the 2021 season. He underwent Tommy John surgery in 2023.
