High Tide (TV series)
High Tide was an American syndicated action/adventure television series that aired from 1994 to 1997. The series followed Mick Barrett (Rick Springfield) and Joey Barrett (Yannick Bisson), two former private detectives who relocate from Chicago to Southern California and open a photography studio in Santa Monica. However, their photography business serves as a front for their real occupation: solving crimes and mysteries along the beaches of Malibu and Santa Monica.
Mick is portrayed as the more experienced and grounded of the two, while Joey brings youthful enthusiasm and tech-savviness to their investigations. Each episode typically involved them investigating a new case, often involving beach-related crime such as smuggling, theft, or even murder.
The series was known for its scenic California beach locations, its action-oriented plots, and the presence of guest stars, including celebrities like Bryan Cranston, Shannon Tweed, and George Takei. It aimed for a light and entertaining tone, blending action with humor and a sense of escapism.
While High Tide did not achieve widespread critical acclaim, it maintained a steady audience during its run in syndication and has remained a nostalgic favorite for some viewers due to its appealing setting and charismatic leads. The show also featured music by Rick Springfield, adding another layer to his involvement.
