Harworth
Harworth is a village and civil parish in the Bassetlaw district of Nottinghamshire, England. It is located close to the border with South Yorkshire, approximately 6 miles (10 km) north-east of Worksop.
The village is historically agricultural, although employment opportunities have diversified in recent years. Evidence suggests settlement in the area dates back to at least the Anglo-Saxon period.
Harworth is typically considered a small, rural community. Its population is estimated to be in the low thousands. The civil parish also includes the hamlet of Bircotes.
The name "Harworth" is believed to derive from Old English, possibly meaning "hare enclosure" or "enclosed place frequented by hares." More research is needed to confirm the etymology of its name.
Local amenities include a primary school, a church (St. Mary Magdalene), a village hall, and a few local businesses. The nearby town of Worksop provides a wider range of services and amenities.
