Hallelujah (film)

Hallelujah is a 1929 American pre-Code musical directed by King Vidor, and released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. It was one of the first all-black sound films produced by a major studio.

The film tells the story of Zeke, a sharecropper in the rural South, who is easily tempted and struggles to find redemption after a series of misfortunes. He accidentally kills his brother Spunk while gambling. Zeke then attempts to atone for his sin and find happiness, but is led astray by a seductive woman named Chick.
