HMS Osiris (S13)
HMS Osiris (S13) was an Oberon-class submarine of the Royal Navy. She was commissioned in 1964 and decommissioned in 1988. Osiris was built by Cammell Laird in Birkenhead.
Oberon-class submarines were designed for long-range patrols and anti-submarine warfare. They were known for their quiet operation, which made them difficult to detect. Osiris, like her sister boats, was equipped with torpedoes and sonar systems.
During her service, Osiris participated in numerous exercises and patrols, primarily in the Atlantic and Mediterranean. She also served in the Far East. She was involved in Cold War operations, tracking Soviet naval vessels.
Following her decommissioning, Osiris was initially preserved as a museum ship at Barrow-in-Furness. However, this preservation was not successful, and the submarine fell into disrepair. She was eventually scrapped in 1993.
