HMS Norwich (1745)

HMS Norwich was a 50-gun fourth-rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy, launched in 1745. She was built according to the 1741 proposals of the 1719 Establishment, at Deptford Dockyard.

Norwich saw active service in various theatres during her career. She participated in the War of the Austrian Succession and the Seven Years' War.

During the Seven Years' War, HMS Norwich served in the Mediterranean, playing a role in the British naval presence in the region. She later saw action in the West Indies.

In 1762, Norwich was present at the capture of Havana, Cuba, a strategically important Spanish possession. Her contribution to this operation involved blockading the port and providing support to the landing forces.

The ship was sold out of the Navy in 1771. Details regarding her later fate are not readily available.

Her armament consisted of twenty 24-pounder guns on the lower gun deck, twenty-two 9-pounder guns on the upper gun deck, and six 6-pounder guns on the quarterdeck. This configuration was typical for a fourth-rate vessel of the period, providing a balance of firepower and maneuverability.
