Yak (band)

Yak are an English rock band formed in London in 2014. The band's core members are Oli Burslem (vocals, guitar), Andy Jones (bass), and Elliot Rawson (guitar). Their sound is often described as a blend of garage rock, psychedelic rock, and noise rock, drawing comparisons to bands like The Stooges, The Jesus and Mary Chain, and Ty Segall.

Yak released their debut album, Alas Salvation, in 2016 on Third Man Records. The album received critical acclaim for its raw energy and distinctive songwriting. Following its release, Yak toured extensively, building a reputation for their intense live performances.

Their second album, Pursuit of Momentary Happiness, was released in 2019 on Virgin EMI Records. This album saw the band further exploring their sonic palette, incorporating more diverse influences and experimental elements into their sound.

As of late 2023, Yak is still active, though their release schedule and touring activity have been less frequent since the release of Pursuit of Momentary Happiness. Their earlier work remains influential within the UK garage rock scene.
