HMS Hector (F45)
HMS Hector (F45) was a Leander-class frigate of the Royal Navy. She was built by John Brown & Company on the Clyde, Scotland, and launched on September 26, 1966. Hector was commissioned on May 25, 1968.
A Batch 3A Leander, Hector was fitted with the Exocet missile system and the Sea Cat missile system. These modifications were part of a broader modernization program for the Leander-class frigates throughout the 1970s and 1980s.
Hector participated in numerous exercises and deployments throughout her service life, serving in various roles including anti-submarine warfare and general patrol duties.
She was decommissioned on August 15, 1991, and subsequently sold for scrap. She was broken up in 1992.
